Not a Public Blog

This website is not really for public consumption (although you are welcome to read it). It is really just for friends, family, and neighbors to find out what vegetables we have available to give away.

We have a big garden, and when a plant-type starts producing, they quickly overwhelm us with excess. So, rather than calling people and asking them if they want stuff, I'm putting a list of what we've got, and you can call me if you want any of it. Ask for as much as you can handle, and don't worry about sounding greedy. It'll end up in the garbage if someone doesn't take it off our hands.

This post is stuck to the top. Scroll down to the next post to see what is currently available.

Corn!

-There's a good bit of sweet corn in the garden. the ears are smaller than summer corn, but they taste great. Pull your own, first come, first serve (we already took the best ears :))
-Mustard greens
-green onions
-turnip greens
-squash/zucchini
-green tomatoes. The tomatoes aren't going to live long enough to turn red. Anyone who wants green tomatoes, take as many as you like. We don't eat them.

Out of Town - Help Yourself

It's cold! I'm leaving for a week, but Carol will still be here. She probably won't pick anything for you though. Women, huh? Anyway, you are welcome to as much as you want of:

-green onions (aka scallions) the shovel is by the pumphouse - please return it when done
-mustard greens
-turnip greens only
-butter beans
-tomatoes (san marzano only... they're only good for cooking with - please don't take the green ones)
-zucchini
-yellow squash
-okra - if you don't mind, pick every pod you can find or else it will stop producing. Thanks!

May 18

Squash - Yellow, Zucchini, and this white flying saucer shaped squash called 'pattypan'.

Cucumbers - They're white! They taste like regular cucumbers, but they're easier to find against the green foliage when picking them.

Tomatoes - Two per person. They aren't coming in fast yet. Check back next week.

New Zealand Spinach - Tastes kinda/sorta like regular spinach (yuck), except it grows in the summer.

Swiss Chard - Red, yellow and green. You have to pick it yourself.

Green beans - You have to pick them yourself. Please only take them from the pole beans. I just sprayed the bush beans yesterday, and they are not safe to eat yet.

11/17/09

We have almost nothing. The green beans are still producing. We've got a bunch of them at the house, and you can pick your own also, if you prefer. It's going to freeze tonight, so I covered them. If you get there before I do, please remove the cover.

DO NOT PICK THE MUSTARD, TURNIPS, OR SWISS CHARD! At least until 11/20. I sprayed 'em on the 13th to kill the stink bugs.
